Playing Together for Better Mental Health

"Our church has basketball and football clubs, and I always tell the people who feel depressed to try socializing through sports; by the time they finish the game, they feel better. By understanding and addressing the challenges of men, we can influence behavioural change. This will improve the mental wellness of the community and reduce crimes. When fathers are more involved and supportive of their families, their children are happier.” According to Ruth Juliet Lunkuse, Finance and Special Projects Director, DEI Embrace Foundation

Men sometimes lack family support, especially when facing financial challenges. They transfer their anger to the family through violence and rudeness, leaving the children and spouse feeling abandoned. Sports are a therapeutic way to deal with depression.

“If a man is in a good mental state, he will be in charge of his home.”
- Ruth Juliet Lunkuse.
